The WIO-LaB project is organising a regional workshop of the Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) for the Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis (TDA) developed under the project. The workshop will take place in Mombasa, Kenya, on 25th and 26th August 2008.

The Eighth Meeting of the Project Steering Committee for the UNEP/GEF project entitled “Reversing Environmental Degradation Trends in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand” will be convened in Hanoi, Viet Nam from 25th - 26th August 2008, inclusive. Documentation for the meeting can be accessed by clicking here. Focal points are encouraged to contact the Project Co-ordinating Unit should they require any further information or guidance regarding the organisation of the meeting. Meeting documents have also been distributed to participants via e-mail and will be available to participants in the meeting in hard copy format.

The meeting of the WIO-LaB Project National Focal Points (which are also the Focal Points for the Nairobi Convention) held on 6 March 2006 aimed at briefing and discussing with the National Focal Points a number of key issues related to the design and implementation of a number of project activities to be implemented in 2006. The meeting was attended by the officials of UNEP/GPA, UNEP/GEF, Nairobi Convention Secretariat as well as National Focal Points and Chairs of the Municipal Wastewater Management (MWW) and Physical Alteration and Destruction of Habitats (PADH) Regional Task Forces.

The WIO-LaB Project Steering Committee meeting was held at Diani, Mombasa, Kenya on 7 March 2006, and was officially opened by Dr. Kennedy Ondimu, the Director for Research and Planning Division of the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), on behalf of the Acting Director-General of NEMA of Kenya. The meeting was attended by National Focal Points, the Chairs of the Municipal Wastewater Management (MWW) and Physical Alteration and Destruction of Habitats (PADH) Regional Task Forces, representatives of UNEP/GEF, UNEP/GPA and the Nairobi Convention Secretariat, as well as representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations such as WWF, IUCN and WIOMSA, the private sector represented by the Kenya Association of Hotel Keepers and Caterers, as well as representative of the World Bank/GEF Southwest Indian Ocean Fisheries Project (SWIOFP).
