Greetings all. This is Tracy Hart, IW Technical Specialist for the World Bank. Here are some initial thoughts I have on "what is hot" in Measuring Results andImpacts in our coterie of projects in GEF International Waters. At the Bank, westill rely on the "Bible" (or Koran, if you will) of IW M&E, called "Monitoringand Evaluation Indicators for GEF International Waters Projects". Although thisreport is almost 5 years old, it still gives really good explanatory text onprocess, stress reduction, and environmental status indicators. In terms of theGEF overall, the emphasis of the last few years has been on "results-basedmanagement". If you are looking for GEF-prescribed "minimum requirements forproject M&E", the GEF Monitoring and Evaluation Office has a few pointers. Interms of what the International Waters Task Force has been doing recently toassist in strengthening IW M&E -- in the context of the yearly ProjectImplementation Review (PIR) reporting exercise, we have been discussing howbetter to "roll up" or aggregate results across projects, and how to make morevisible how GEF IW projects contribute to MDG goals. In any case, I would loveto hear from you on what your challenges are specific to measuring results andimpacts, and we will take the conversation from there .....
