Final Report on the Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment in the NE Coast of Sabah: Turtle Islands Park and Tun Mustapha Park and Climate Change VA in the NE Coasts of Sabah: Options for CCA Strategies for Turtles Nesting and Hatchling

Coastal regions, particularly small islands and sensitive coastal ecosystem are known to be highly vulnerable due to climate change, based on global and regional models. Small islands, such the Turtle Islands in the east coast of Sabah, and coastal area of Tun Mustapha Marine Park are important for a number of reasons such as biodiversity conservation and socio-economic activities (e.g., tourism, fisheries, and aquaculture). Therefore, it is crucial to assess the vulnerability of the coastal areas due to climate change and to formulate appropriate adaptation strategies. The outcomes from this project would be useful as input into the improvement of the protection and sustainability of the Tun Mustapha Park (TMP) and Turtle Islands Park, which is nominated to be part of the Coral Triangle Marine Protected Areas System (CTMPAS), development of alternative livelihoods (tourism, mariculture), and the formulation of integrated coastal zone management (ICZM).
