The Strategic Action Programme for the Sustainable Management of Lake Tanganyika (July 2000)

This programme was duly adopted by the four riparian states (Government of Burundi, Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Government of Tanzania,Government of Zambia) at the final meeting of the LTBP Regional Steering Committee held in Nairobi, July 13, 2000. The Strategic Action Programme for the Sustainable Management of Lake Tanganyika establishes an agreed framework for implementing priority interventions to promote conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable use of the lake and coastal resources and to manage activities in the wider catchment that have negative impacts on these resources.
