- NATO ARW on Climate Change, Sep 2010 (Izmir, Turkey., from 01-Sep-2010 08:00 AM to 04-Sep-2010 06:00 PM)
- A North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Advanced Research Workshop (ARW) entitled “Effect of Climate Change on Water Supplies-Issues of National and Global Security” will be held from 1st-4th September 2010 in Izmir, Turkey. The purpose of this ARW is to provide a valuable opportunity for scientists in key related fields to establish strategies and priorities for much needed interdisciplinary work on the response of surface and subsurface water resources to climate change related phenomena. In this regard, groundwater, climate change and security are now considered to form a common interface between scientists, engineers, economists and politicians. It is expected that 50 scientists from about 35 countries will attend the workshop, which will include both platform and poster sessions. UNESCO Chair INWEB coordinator Prof. J.Ganoulis will be a key speaker at this event.
- Transboundary Aquifers and International Law: The experience of the Guarani Aquifer System (University of Surrey, Guildford, United Kingdom, from 31-Aug-2010 08:00 AM to 31-Aug-2010 06:00 PM)
- This seminar will bring together an interdisciplinary group of international water experts to discuss the experience gained by in the sustainable management of the Guarani Aquifer System in the light of the current developments on international law of transboundary aquifers. The seminar is part of the Environmental Regulatory Research Group project “The Environmental Protection of the Guarani Aquifer: A Legal Perspective” and it contributes to the UNESCO-IHP ISARM (Internationally Shared Aquifers Resource Management) Programme. The seminar will constitute the official launch of the Surrey Centre on the Regulation of Transboundary Aquifers (SCERTA).

- GIslands 2010 is an International Summer School on Geotechnologies applied to Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) funded by Science, Technology and Equipment Secretary of the Azores Regional Government, and organized by the Geographical Information & Territorial Planning Centre (CIGPT) at University of the Azores situated in the beautiful Azores archipelago in North Atlantic. GIslands 2010 Summer School has selected a diverse and multinational team of lecturers from Spain, Germany, United Kingdom, USA and Portugal, with significant experiences in MSP, Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM), GIS, Remote Sensing, Environmental Modelling and Spatial Data Infrastructure. In this 6-day course, lecturers will share their experiences with the students, and all students will present their MSP related research and also learn through theories and hands-on experiences on how to apply Geotechnologies on MSP.
