Policy Programme Officer (WWF)
Job description:
This is a senior management post reporting to WWF-EARPO Freshwater Programme Coordinator. The Policy Officer’s principal duty is to develop, coordinate, supervise and implement the policy initiatives and change of practices in accordance with the goals and metagoals of the WWF Global Programme framework.
Requirements and Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will have a minimum of a Postgraduate Degree in relevant discipline (e.g. environmental policy, environmental law, environment and development, water policy or natural resources management); at least 4 years of relevant professional experience in Eastern Africa in conservation programme, planning, development and implementation; additional competency in technical management of water resource management, including project planning, financial management, monitoring and evaluation is an advantage. Good conservation vision and knowledge in the field of conservation especially on national and regional policy frameworks; must have demonstrable leadership skills; be able to mentor and develop multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural teams and individuals; strong oral and verbal communication skills, particularly in writing and editing technical reports and proposals, position papers; excellent computer skills and fluency in English while fluency in Kiswahili will be an added advantage.
