Enviro '08, 5th Biennial Enviro Conference and Exhibition

Enviro 08 is the product of more than 20 years of collaboration between the Australian Water Association (AWA) and the Waste Management Association of Australia (WMAA). The Conference provides a unique opportunity for authors and delegates to cross boundaries and learn about sustainability, climate change and environmental management in a multi-disciplinary and holistic way.

The potential for cross-fertilisation and networking is huge and should not be missed. Business, professional and personal relationships can flourish in the rich climate of ideas and innovation.

Complementary to the Conference, the Enviro 08 Exhibition will house 200 or more exhibitors, displaying the latest in technology, products and services relevant not only to the Conference themes, but also to energy, water and waste management.

Preceded by many Hazardous & Solid Wastes and Watertech conferences (1986-1998), the Enviro event was first held in 2000 (in Sydney). Enviro has since been staged in Melbourne or Sydney every two years, and attracts up to 6000 people to the combined Conference and Exhibition.

Enviro 08 reflects contemporary priorities and issues, especially sustainability (in its full, triple bottom line context) and climate change. This reflects a logical and necessary evolution from its roots in 2000.

With a focus squarely on case studies and practical ideas, Enviro 08 will be relevant for business and industry, as well as those providing services and expertise to support better environmental outcomes, sustainability and climate amelioration.

Presentations and discussion will include these key topic areas:

  • Climate change
  • Building sustainable cities
  • New priorities for energy, water and waste recovery
  • Financing clean technologies and responsible investment
  • Developing sustainable infrastructure
