Hydropower Africa 2008 aims to bring together the private sector and utilities/government representatives to allow hydro to gain traction in Africa. Its objective is to build on the Ministerial Conferences on Hydropower by directly engaging the private sector - financiers, investors, manufacturers, engineers and environmentalists - and by encouraging it to become as involved as government. Hydropower Africa 2008 aims to explore further the vast potential for hydro in Africa by providing a platform for the effective selection and presentation of projects. It will also examine the risks of private-public partnerships and study the financial implications of this kind of investment.
