Common problems exist in fisheries Monitoring, Control and Surveillance (MCS) regardless of region or fishery and occur in national zones and on the high seas and involve domestic fleets and foreign flag vessels. At the GFETW, traditional MCS methods and innovative approaches to all of these situations will be presented.
The five day programme will be hosted by the Government of Norway in cooperation with the International MCS Network, the EU, and FAO and other sponsors and follow on the success of the First Global Workshop held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2005.
