How to Apply the Source-to-Sea Approach in GEF IW Projects

The Global Environment Facility (GEF) encourages inclusion of source-to-sea (S2S) considerations in its projects and programmes, and supports development of an S2S Approach. This has included engaging in the Action Platform for Source-to-Sea Management, producing advisory notes and information documents (Granit et al., 2017a; STAP, 2026), incorporating the S2S Approach in the GEF eighth replenishment cycle programming directions (GEF, 2022a) and providing learning opportunities through the International Waters Learning Exchange and Resource Network (IW:LEARN).
