Report by the Director-General on UNESCO Actions Promoting Women's Empowerment and Gender Equality
By 179 EX/Decision 42 (Part II), the Executive Board requested the Director-General to present to the General Conference at future sessions a stand-alone report on the actions carried out by the Organization as a contribution to the promotion of women’s empowerment and gender equality. This document is the fourth stand-alone report on the Organization’s contributions to women’s empowerment and gender equality. It provides an assessment of UNESCO actions from May 2013 to April 2015 with emphasis on the following: • Overall trends with respect to the implementation of Global Priority Gender • Equality and the Gender Equality Action Plan for 2014-2021 (GEAP II); • Key initiatives and results achieved; • Evolution of gender parity in the Secretariat; • Major challenges and lessons learned; • Moving forward.
