Indian Island Oil Spills-Project document

The objective of the proposed project is to protect the environmental integrity of the coastal and marine ecosystems of a large, biologically rich and relatively pristine part of the western Indian Ocean. The project will achieve this by helping the small island states of Comoros, Mauritius, Madagascar, and Seychelles ratify and comply with the International Convention on Oil Pollution Preparedness, Response and Cooperation (OPRC90), which requires states to develop and maintain adequate capacity to respond to oil pollution emergencies.
