Ballast Water News Issue 5: April - June 2001

A major event this quarter was the 46th meeting of IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), held from 23 to 27 April. Substantial progress was made on the new ballast water convention. One of the main gaps remaining is standards for new ballast treatment systems.
