The Ministry of Environment and Water develops and implements public policies, legislation, plans, programs and projects for the conservation, adaptation and sustainable use of environmental resources, and the development of irrigation and sanitation with comprehensive watershed approach, preserving the environment, which ensure priority use of water for life, respecting customs and habits to live well
The objectives of MINAM are the product of consensus. Were discussed and approved by a renewed Multisectoral Commission (created by Supreme Resolution No. 189-2012-PCM ) in which the ministers of Agriculture, Culture, Energy and Mines participated; Economy and Finance; Health; Production; Development and Social Inclusion; Environment and the President of the Council of Ministers in order to strengthen the trust of citizens in relation to the role of the state in environmental protection, sustainable management of natural resources and the conservation of species and ecosystems. Therefore approved the strategic axes of environmental management , four aspects that define the full and gradual incorporation of the environmental dimension in public policies.
