The Clean and Healthy Oceans Integrated Program (CHO-IP) is one of the 9 integrated programs under the GEF.

CHO-IP aims to address marine hypoxic zones by curbing coastal pollution from agriculture, industrial and municipal sources through policy and regulatory measures and infrastructure investments combined with nature-based solutions. In doing so, the program will foster the enabling environment to advance countries' efforts toward sustainable blue economy goals. CHO-IP is a led by FAO, in partnership with ADB, CAF, EBRD and IOC/UNESCO.

The workshop, hosted at the FAO Headquarters in Rome, brought together representatives from all partner organisations, including UN agencies, development banks and IGOs to discuss the development of the full project proposal. IW:LEARN was invited to present an overview of GEF investments to date, addressing nutrient pollution and hypoxia, primarily in the GEF International Waters Focal area, and also to present IW:LEARN as a prototype for knowledge management and capacity development and how it can be leveraged and link with the Global Coordination Project and knowledge management functions to be served in this IP.

Konstantina Toli, IW:LEARN Project Cordiinator.
